What Anglesey's premiums raise

In 2025/26 the second-homes premium raised £5.78 million and the empty-homes premium £1.05 million. In 2022/23 the council set aside £696,000 of premium income for housing schemes, which helped 28 households with grants to buy their first home and funded an empty homes officer. The Welsh Government's 2026/27 returns put Anglesey's chargeable second homes at 2,297, among the highest in Wales relative to its size.
For other cases the council has a discretionary relief policy. It covers care leavers, people in exceptional financial hardship, flood or fire, homes with a terminally ill resident, and long-term empty homes undergoing structural work. Card payments are taken 24 hours a day on 0300 123 0800. Bands are set by the Valuation Office Agency on 2003 values. A Welsh revaluation is planned for 2028.
