In a letter to residents on 5 March 2026, Sutton Council said the government's new way of funding councils had cut Sutton's money. It said the government assumed more services would be paid for by council tax. Even after the rise, the council says it must save £13 million this year. On average the council's share rises by £1.71 a week. The Mayor of London's Greater London Authority charge adds 39p a week, making £2.10 a week in total.

Paying and empty homes in Sutton
